Wendy Flynn MA, CIMT, CPMT, LMBT NC#12276

Wendy moved to Asheville with her husband and two young children in 2011. Together they found “home” in the mountains, the awesome vegetarian food, and the wonderful abundance of progressive thinking leading to healthier, happier living. Wendy loves to run, bike, practice yoga, and read.
Wendy graduated from Thiel College in Greenville, PA in 1998 with a BA in Psychology and then earned her Master’s in Clinical/Counseling Psychology from Cleveland State University in 2000. She then applied her clinical skills for 10 years while working in the mental health field as a therapist and researcher. She worked primarily with children and adolescents with mental health diagnoses and/or trauma histories. Though she loved working with children, Wendy was troubled by the number of medications young children were prescribed to help them sleep, relax, focus in school, and get along with peers and adults. She also witnessed physical manifestations of their disorders that were not accessible by traditional talk therapy. So, she explored alternative treatments and found that massage is a powerful way to directly address the nervous and hormonal systems of the body to produce relaxation, ease anxiety and depression, and increase the duration and quality of sleep.
Excited by the possibilities of integrating mind and body, she attended the Center for Massage and Natural Health in Asheville in 2012, and then became certified as a Pediatric Specialist and Infant Massage Therapy Teacher through Tina Allen’s internationally respected Liddle Kidz Foundation. She then received additional training to specialize in the treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorders and Childhood Cancers. Now, she finds joy in sharing the many benefits of massage with youth and their families. She also enjoys providing relaxation and deep tissue massages to adults.
Wendy is a co-founder of the Sunshine Institute and the Director of Pediatric Services.
