Healing Trauma in the Body Part I & II - 16 CE Hours
Part I & II- February 6th & 7th 2016, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
$225 for 16 CE Hours  
($125 for 8 CE Hours- Part I only)

Healing trauma includes learning how to reconnect with our body, emotions, and feelings in a safe and authentic way. This course will provide a foundation in trauma theory and explore different therapeutic bodywork modalities and mind-body techniques to assist in healing trauma. We will address the physiological effects of trauma on the body, including the brain. We will learn to use both manual and subtle energy techniques that work with the nervous system to re-educate the body and mind in order to strengthen our core self. Our focus will be to learn to better understand and assist with releasing locked energy in the body caused from the effects of trauma and chronic stress.  

Learning Outcomes: 
Upon completion of the course, participants will have demonstrated the following understandings, skills, and dispositions. The course participant (will): 

* Define trauma & understand basic trauma theory 

* Describe the physical/physiological affects of trauma on the body and brain 

* Understand the importance of connecting with our body sensations & feelings 

* Apply trauma informed care within the scope of practicing therapeutic massage and bodywork, including        creating a safe environment for the client

* Learn grounding and supportive mind-body techniques to calm the nervous system to assist the client in        healing trauma and for personal self-care
 
* Apply skills from different therapeutic bodywork modalities to assist in healing trauma in the body 
 
* Learn to use both manual and subtle energy techniques that work with the nervous system in releasing          locked energy in the body caused from trauma/ chronic stress
 
* Learn about various trauma treatments available to clients and how to refer when additional professional        support is needed for emotional and mental health
 
*These learning outcomes will be achieved through lecture, PowerPoint, hands on practice, discussion, handouts, video, and further resources for trauma informed care. 


Christy Clavio provides integrative holistic health care focusing on mind-body therapies to educate and empower people in their recovery. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist. Christy has worked as a clinician in public mental health since 2012 helping adults, children, and families with mental health, addiction, and trauma recovery. Christy is Nationally Certified and Licensed in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork and has been practicing healing arts professionally for over 17 years. She graduated from the New Mexico School of Natural Therapeutics in 1997 and is a Certified Natural Therapeutic Specialist. Christy specializes in core synchronism, cranial sacral therapy, polarity therapy, shiatsu, music and sound therapies.
