Ayurveda
Ayurveda is one of the oldest life sciences on the planet. Originally, this profound philosophy was passed down orally, generation to generation by Rishis or Holy Scientists, then finally recorded in texts over 4,000 years ago. Ayurveda has had a profound effect on Tibetan, Chinese, Persian, Egyptian, Greek, Roman and Indonesian Medicine. Ayurvedic philosophy believes that health is a result of a balanced relationship between our physical self, our personality, emotional, mental, spiritual and energetic selves. Dis-ease is seen as an opportunity for growth and change.
Ayurveda is a science that addresses all aspects of life. Ayurveda considers the effects of the seasons, the weather, our birth time, cycles of life, our constitution, our diet, lifestyle, our relationships, our life purpose, our connection to nature and to the Divine, in relation to our well being. Ayurvedic diagnosis may consist of pulse taking, evaluating the tongue and facial characteristics, drawing a birth chart, palpating energetic channels or points, and determining personal constitution or predominant Dosha. Ayurvedic Treatments may include diet changes, herbal supplements, essential oils, dry skin brushing, steam, oilation, hot herbal pastes, Massage, Yoga and Meditation, to name a few.
At the core of Ayurveda's healing therapies is Pancha Karma, which is said to have been practiced over 8,000 years ago. Pancha Karma has five main practices used to balance the body, these practices involve elimination therapies, as well strengthening and rejuvenating therapies. Pancha Karma benefits both the healthy and unhealthy and is considered to be the most effective therapy for preventing and curing diseases, as well as for revitalizing the entire human organism.
